Can you imagine combining your passion for travel, and also being able to save money when going on your next cruise?
Let’s say you're a Disney Cruise Line travel agent who has booked hundreds of trips for guests to experience the Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish, shown them how great the Disney Fantasy is, and shared tips and secrets about Castaway Cay. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you helped guests make their dreams come true, all while enjoying some fantastic deals with Disney Cruise Line for your next vacation, thanks to being a top-notch travel agent?
The short answer is… yes.
The long answer is… yes, but it depends on your travel agency, the number of bookings you’ve made in the past, and the cruise line. If you're just starting out as a travel agent, there's a good chance you won’t be able to secure any discounts. However, if you've been working for a year and have made several new bookings, you’ve likely made a strong impression and could score some great deals, not only for yourself but also for your family.
The easiest way to secure a deep discount or even a free cruise is through Familiarization Trips (FAM Trips) organized by many travel suppliers. These cruises are designed exclusively for travel agents, with the primary goal of familiarizing them with the ship, entertainment options, dining experiences, and more.
Some cruise lines also offer agents significant discounts based on the number of bookings they’ve made. For example, Celebrity Cruises has its own Travel Agent Loyalty Program, called Celebrity Rewards, where top-tier membership provides numerous perks, making your trip far more affordable than it would be without the travel agent benefits.
Many leading cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival, and Princess Cruises, offer discounted rates or FAM trips for travel advisors. Luxury and river cruise brands like Viking and Silversea also provide special incentives for agents to experience their offerings. The best part? River cruises are expanding quickly, and joining these FAM trips could give you a competitive edge.
Do keep in mind that you do need a CLIA Membership to have access to industry perks, including discounted cruises, training, and special offers.
