Benefits

A Good Starting Point for Travel Agents

Thinking about becoming a travel agent or just looking to expand your cruise knowledge? Celestyal Cruises might be the perfect supplier to get you started. They operate just two ships and sail to two main regions: the Mediterranean and the Arabian Gulf. That makes it much easier to get a solid grasp of what they offer, from ships to itineraries. If you’re not ready to dive into cruise lines with 20-plus ships and endless features, you’ll love how simple and approachable Celestyal is.

Celestyal is Niche

Sure, plenty of guests know about Royal Caribbean and Carnival, but not as many have heard of Celestyal… at least not until they start planning a Mediterranean cruise and stumble across glowing reviews about how great their ships are. That’s where you come in! Guests will have questions, and by being a Celestyal expert, you can guide them through it all - especially in a market where not many travel advisors specialize in this unique Greek cruise line.

Celestyal is also rather New

Well, not exactly new, but their cruise ships launched in 2023 and 2024. That’s pretty new, right?

Celestyal has gone through a major update over the past few years, introducing the Celestyal Discovery and Celestyal Journey. They’ve also added brand-new itineraries to the Arabian Gulf for 2025. As you can see, there’s a lot that’s fresh and exciting… which means if you start working with them now, you’ll be one of the first travel agents to really dominate this market.

Skills

Communication Skills

Remember, good communication skills are key when working with any travel supplier, and that includes Celestyal Cruises. Guests will come to you with plenty of questions. After all, Celestyal is still relatively new to many people, with ships introduced just in the past few years. You'll need to explain things clearly, from the two ships to their itineraries and what makes them special. And always stay polite and respectful, especially since many of the people reaching out will likely be couples or guests in their 40s and up.

Stay Up to Date with Everything Celestyal-Related

Celestyal Cruises has recently revamped their ships and itineraries, which means many people working with them are starting from scratch to learn the ropes. That’s great news for you, especially if you’re just getting started. While it’s nearly impossible to memorize every single detail about Celestyal’s ships and destinations, it’s important to stay up to date on the latest developments.

What ships does Celestyal operate? How does dining work? Do they offer a complimentary buffet? What are their main itineraries? You need to understand what you’re selling, so doing your research on Celestyal is absolutely crucial.

You need to research things like:

  • Celestyal Discovery and Celestyal Journey
  • Itineraries and Stateroom Prices
  • The best specialty restaurants onboard
  • Are these ships good for children?
  • Things to do onboard

Prepare for your Interview

You need to be prepared and really understand what Celestyal is all about when applying to become a travel agent for Celestyal Cruises. Show the host agency that you know the Celestyal Journey and Celestyal Discovery inside and out, along with the overall vibe of the ships, the main itineraries, and more. Getting Paid

Commission Payout

Celestyal Cruises typically pays travel advisors their commissions after the client's voyage has been completed.

Celestyal Cruise Line Travel Agent Rates

While specific commission percentages are protected by NDA (“Non Disclosure Agreement”) between all travel partners/travel suppliers and the host agency, you can assume that commission percentages range from 10% up to 20% (depending on the type of booking).

Celestyal Cruises typically pays travel advisors a 12% commission on cruise fares, plus additional commissions based on what clients book onboard. For shore excursions, they usually pay 15% commission.

Now let’s try a simulation:

  • A 7-day Greek Islands cruise from Athens onboard the Celestyal Journey for two guests in an Inside Stateroom averages $2,600.

Note: Cruise lines also deduct what are called “NCFs” or Non-Commission Fares and typically range from $100 - $250 per person. Let’s deduct $100 per guest, making the total cost $2,500.

Gross commission amount: 12% $2,500 = $300 Gross Commission

Assuming you have a 70% Commission Split with you agency

70% = $210 to YOU

30% = $90 to the Agency

Not too shabby, considering this is a pretty common vacation for two guests, and you could book hundreds of them.

Celestyal Cruise Line Travel Agent Salary

It’s difficult to determine exactly how much a Celestyal travel agent earns per year since many factors come into play, such as the number of bookings, trip prices, and more. This is even harder to predict for Celestyal following their recent revamp with new cruise ships and itineraries for 2025 and beyond.

That said, we can estimate that Celestyal Cruise Line travel agents may earn anywhere from $30,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on whether they work full-time as travel agents or focus solely on Celestyal.
