You will (probably) have a busy year traveling in 2025
Goodbye, 2024! Thanks for the amazing memories - from the debut of the Disney Treasure to the launch of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney, and so many more surprises in the world of travel.
2024 was definitely great, but it also felt like the year that set the stage for some incredible things to come in 2025. This year felt like “A New Hope,” setting up the plot, and next year promises to be a blockbuster like “The Empire Strikes Back,” with exciting new experiences and big reveals… hopefully without all the carbonite.
Let’s see some of the most hyped things coming next year, from Epic Universe to the Disney Adventure and much more.
An epic new theme park is coming to Orlando
When was the last time a brand-new, major theme park opened in Orlando? Was it all the way back in 1999 with Islands of Adventure? Wow, that feels like ages ago! Don’t worry, friends, Universal Orlando has us covered. More than 25 years after the debut of Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe is set to officially open its doors on May 22, 2025.
Epic Universe promises to be almost as large as Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios combined, featuring brand-new attractions ranging from mega coasters to fun lands like Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, and much more. It certainly won’t be possible to experience everything in a single day, and I expect this theme park will be incredibly crowded for at least a year. Does that make me want to visit it as soon as possible? Oh yes.
Universal has been knocking it out of the park lately when it comes to theme parks, especially when we look at Islands of Adventure, where new rides like the VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure have been massive hits. I can’t wait for May to arrive. A brand-new theme park like Epic Universe is enough to make 2025 a standout year for travel, but there’s even more exciting stuff on the horizon.
Disney Cruise Line is ready to shake the cruise industry
After the challenging years marked by COVID-19, the cruise industry has been breaking records in 2023 and 2024. And guess what? 2025 is shaping up to be even bigger.
Cruise lines worldwide are gearing up to launch brand-new ships, with MSC heavily investing in the North American market through the debut of MSC World America, Royal Caribbean introducing Star of the Seas, and Disney Cruise Line unveiling two major surprises: the Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure.
Both new Disney Cruise Line ships are set to launch in late 2025, with the Disney Destiny sailing from Port Everglades in Florida and the Disney Adventure becoming the first-ever Disney ship to sail from Singapore. Guests can look forward to brand-new stage shows, dining venues, bars, and much more, immersing them in the worlds of Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and, of course, classic Disney characters.
The debut of these two ships is exciting on its own, but it also represents a bold new strategy for Disney Cruise Line. For instance, the Disney Wish launched in 2022, and before that, the Disney Fantasy arrived a full decade earlier in 2012. Now, we have the Disney Treasure setting sail in 2024, the Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure in 2025, and four additional ships planned for delivery between 2027 and 2031.
Next year isn’t just about introducing two new ships - it’s a signal of Disney’s expanded commitment to the cruise industry. We’ll be here to watch how this ambitious strategy unfolds in 2025 and beyond.
Beaches Resorts is Back on Track with Beaches Exuma
It’s been a while since Beaches Resorts made headlines. The last big splash came with Beaches Turks & Caicos in 2018, and before that, we had Beaches Negril and Beaches Ocho Rios in Jamaica. But in 2025, a brand-new Beaches Resort will join the family as Beaches Exuma prepares to open its doors late next year.
Details about this exciting addition are still under wraps, but here’s what we do know: Beaches Exuma will be a complete redesign of Sandals Emerald Bay. What was once an adults-only resort will now transform into a family-friendly destination, featuring a Kids Camp, a brand-new waterpark, updated dining options, a golf course, and plenty of other amazing amenities.
Goodbye, 2024. Hello, 2025!
Of course, we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s coming in 2025. What are you most excited about? For me, it’s got to be Epic Universe. I can’t wait to ride the new Donkey Kong Coaster and try Stardust Racers. And who knows, maybe I’ll also hop aboard the Disney Destiny and enjoy dinner at the all-new Lion King restaurant. There’s so much to look forward to next year!
We hope you had an amazing 2024, and here’s to an even better 2025.
From all of us here at Famvia, Happy New Year!
